I’m Sonia and my life has been forever impacted by melanoma. In 2018 at just 44 years old my partner Neil was diagnosed with an aggressive Stage 3 melanoma.

While Neil was able to afford the best possible treatments available, he often questioned how he would feel knowing that treatments were available but not being able to pay for them.

Sadly, Neil lost his battle in June 2021 and in his final days spoke of his desire to set up a foundation to enable people with less financial means than himself to have access to the latest treatment options.

It was his final wish that everyone should have the same chance of beating melanoma, regardless of their financial position, and the Neil Evans Melanoma Foundation is the
manifestation of this wish.

Your story matters.

In walking this road with Neil, I saw first-hand the challenges and pain that can come with undergoing treatment for melanoma. But I recognise how powerful his story is in connecting with others.

By sharing your story with us, in association with Melanoma Institute Australia, you can inspire hope and strength in others facing similar battles. Your courage and honesty can also help us support and reach more people in need.

And together, we can achieve our goal of ‘zero deaths from melanoma’!
